Sad year for 540i's

First off, let me say i think the 4.4 litre BMW V-8 is one of the best engines built ever, but as of late it seems that all the 540's around me are crumbling, and it makes me wonder whats going on. First Lalaines 540 witha destroyed timing gear box, i think based on what she said, and now my mechanic Joe of JW Auto had a minor situation involvong a broken exhaust valve head and a high performance V-8: heres the result, check the bosch platinum spark plug....or whats left of it.
